The Armdale Dorset stud was established in 1938, with the entire Dorset Horn stud transferred to the Poll stud in 1957. Garry established the Armdale Park Poll Dorset stud in 1981. The combined studs now have a breeding strength of over 1,000 stud ewes, making them one of the largest studs in Australia. Noel and Garry Armstrong, Stud Principals of Armdale and Armdale Park, have continued to produce top quality sheep that are highly sought after by the sheep industry and which are noted for their early maturity, size and performance. Top sires have been introduced from other studs, which has assisted to maintain the high standard breeding programs within both studs. Stud Principals, Noel and Garry Armstrong have always aimed to produce true to breed-type, meatier flock rams to meet today's market.
Armdale and Armdale Park are dedicated to the continued
success of the prime lamb industry, and continue to be leaders in both
the stud and commercial fields, of which Poll Dorset's sire in excess
of 75% of the prime lamb market. The use of Stockscan figures has resulted
in the Studs making further progress with growth, eye-muscle area and
fat depth. This was an important step in helping clients meet market
specifications. |
